Dreamers come to the city hoping to find their way. A young Ukranian model backstage at a midtown fashion show, a Latina transsexual in a dressing room in Jackson Heights, and new immigrants walking the streets of Chinatown. From the dystopian landscape of Willets Point to the singular beauty of Tribeca, Loculars presents, through NYC Street, the works of six accomplished New York photographers who have found passion in exploring a unique patch of the city. In the process, they have artfully frozen in time quotidian moments most of us pass by or never get to see.

NYC Street is curated by two eminent photo editors

Alice Gabriner

Alice Gabriner is the former International Photo Editor at TIME magazine, a position she also held previously from 2003-2009. During her ten-year tenure at TIME from 1999-2009, she led the photo department during the 2008- 2009 election and inauguration of President Barack Obama. She oversaw the magazine’s award-winning coverage of the Iraq War, and she worked with TIME‘s notable team of photographers during the Presidential election in 2000. Over a 20-year career at newsweeklies, she has covered both national and international news. The photographers she has worked with have been recognized by the Overseas Press Club, the ICP Infinity Award, and multiple ASME, World Press Photo and POYi awards. Gabriner has curated photography exhibits around the world and has been a member of numerous photo juries and portfolio reviews.
